You will also find that Munnar is the best place to get aromatic oils, and these, too, come in many different varieties. Munnar is also believed to have the best selection of spices; you can find peppers, clove, nutmeg, and other spices in the local stores. If you are in the market for coffee, Devikulam is the place to go as it is famed for its coffee plantations.
The hundan Vallom models make great souvenirs; these miniature snake boats are modeled after those of the Kerala Snake Boat races, and they are often used as candle or pen stands. Another great buy are the Nilavilakku which are very intricately carved brass lamps. You will find them in many of the local handicrafts emporiums.
